Time Team visit Norton Disney in rural Lincolnshire. On the hunt for a long lost medieval moated Manor House, Richard oversees the trenches, digging deep for dateable evidence; Carenza persuades the entire village to get involved, and manages a hundred volunteers test pitting up and down Main Street; Stewart spearheads the search for the moat in the wider landscape; and Gus follows in Walt’s famous footsteps, marvelling at the Disney family’s medieval history, as the origins of the village get pushed further and further back.

Lost Medieval Abbey - Dorset

Time Team are joining Dr Hugh Willmott from the University of Sheffield, with the Cerne Abbey Research Project, as they embark on the rediscovery of a lost Medieval Abbey in Cerne Abbas, Dorset. Destroyed at the Dissolution and hidden for nearly half a Millennia, it lies only 500 metres from the feet of the Iconic chalk hill figure, known as the Cerne Abbas Giant. Could these two incredible landmarks be connected in some way? Time Team help to uncover the richness of this incredible abbey and explore the landscape around for clues to this question.

Roman Fort - Norfolk

Time Team have returned to the Roman fort of Branodunum at Brancaster in Norfolk. The geophysics team, lead by John Gater, have unfinished business at the site after their last visit in 2012.

Medieval Mortar Shipwreck - Dorset

Time Team's Expedition Crew returns to investigate a Medieval shipwreck off the South coast of England, laden with a fascinating cargo.

Derek and Lawrence tell the story of the ‘Mortar Wreck’, the oldest shipwreck ever discovered off the English coast. Over a period of three years, the intrepid duo have gone to sea to observe diving on the medieval wreck, and witnessed beautiful carved marble artefacts come to the surface after 800 years on the sea floor.

Having followed these finds through the conservation process, the show culminates in the launch of a fabulous new shipwreck gallery at Poole Museum in Dorset, where Derek and Lawrence come face to face not only with artefacts from the Mortar Wreck but also a 2000 year old log boat, carved wooden heads and even a submerged euphonium.

Anglo Saxon Burial - Gloucestershire

Time Team join forces with Cotswold Archaeology and the military veterans of Operation Nightingale to investigate an extraordinary Anglo Saxon site in Gloucestershire. But what starts out as a straight forward excavation of a 1400 year old cemetery, takes an unexpected turn, dialling the clock back several centuries and leaving the team scratching their heads about what exactly they are unearthing.

Bronze Age Standing Stone - Derbyshire

Coastal Iron Age Knowe - Orkney

The island of Rousay in Orkney holds so many archeological wonders it has been nicknamed ‘The Egypt of the North’. On its southern coast lies the Knowe of Swandro, a complex multi-period site that has been under excavation for over ten years. Time Team favourite Dr John Gater visits the site to see what new discoveries have been made and learn how the team are battling the elements in a race against time to excavate before Swandro is lost to the sea. Community Archaeology Dig - Devon

Time Team headed to the West Country for a very special dig that placed the local community at its heart. Working closely with residents, volunteers, the primary school, and even the local scout troop, Time Team ventured into the lofts and gardens of Modbury, a South Devon community located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Over the traditional three days, Time Team aimed to trace the settlement’s history, from its Medieval origins and involvement in the English Civil War, up to its fascinating overseas connections.

Iron Age Settlement - Dorset

In September 2023 Time Team heads to Wytch Farm, in the shadow of Corfe Castle, Dorset, where Derek and Lawrence discovered two Iron Age burials back in 2021. They've called in the full team to investigate. Was this a cemetery, and how long have people been living here? Where were they living, and, above all, what were their livelihoods? Will we uncover the secrets of Wytch Farm? We have just three days to find out!

Iron Age Settlement & Fogou - Cornwall

This mysterious Iron Age settlement in far West Cornwall may hold vital clues to ancient trade links with the Continent. Wider evidence from a range of sites suggests Cornwall traded its highly-prized tin (an essential raw material in the production of Bronze) and other minerals for goods possibly from the Mediterranean and beyond, ranging from olive and wine to other items of value. Both high-status Gaulish Samian ware and pottery from North Africa have been found on this site.

Time Team will also investigate the mysterious subterranean tunnels and chambers, known locally as ‘fogous.’ Were these used as refuge from attack or bad weather, storage and preservation of food, some unknown ritual activity, a combination of these, or something else entirely? We hope to shed light on these questions, placing the site within its broader context.

Knights Hospitaller Preceptory - Shropshire

In September 2022, Time Team visited Halston Hall and Whittington Castle in Shropshire, in search of a lost Knights Hospitaller preceptory. The site was selected after topping a poll of Time Team fans on Patreon, and originally came to light thanks to some astute landscape detective work by our very own Stewart Ainsworth. Prehistoric Earthworks - Louisiana, USA

Poverty Point is a UNESCO World Heritage Site consisting of a complex of monumental earthworks located in Louisiana, USA. Recently, a series of mound-like features were discovered in a GPR survey buried beneath the ground in the centre of the site. Time Team’s geophys wizz Jimmy Adcock travels across the Atlantic to join a team of archeologists investigating these mysterious subterranean features. Could the origin of these mounds provide the answer to why Poverty Point’s prehistoric inhabitants chose this location for their ancient city? The team has just three days to find out! The Poverty Point resistivity survey was partially supported by a grant from the ISAP Fund of the International Society for Archaeological Prospection.

Roman Sarcophagus - Oxfordshire

Time Team returns to Broughton Roman Villa in Oxfordshire to investigate the mysterious stone sarcophagus that originally led to the site's discovery. In September 2021, the full team had the traditional three days to shed light on a huge villa on the Broughton Estate, originally discovered by Time Team's Keith Westcott. But with questions surrounding the sarcophagus remaining unanswered, we've sent in our new Expedition Crew for a closer look. Can the team relocate the burial? And what will we find? There's a lot to do and – on this occasion – only two days to do it!

Romano British Villa - Oxfordshire

Time Team returned in 2021 to dig a huge Roman villa in Oxfordshire. The site was recently discovered by metal detectorist and amateur archaeologist Keith Westcott.

Various finds from mosaic tesserae and hypocaust flue tiles to a sarcophagus suggest a large villa of high status on this site. Broughton has presented the extremely rare opportunity to investigate what appears to be an untouched and well-preserved Roman villa with the latest technology, techniques and approaches. As well as investigating the villa, we seek to place it within its wider context in the landscape.

New presenters Dr Gus Casely-Hayford and Natalie Haynes join team members old and new to investigate a huge Roman villa on the estate of Broughton Castle in Oxfordshire. Armed with new technology, and with seasoned Site Director Neil Holbrook back at the helm, Time Team have just three days to shed light on this complex site.

The Sutton Hoo Dig S1 - Suffolk

Hosted by Tony Robinson, Time Team’s historic dig in an Anglo Saxon cemetery at Sutton Hoo is underway.

It’s one of the most important archaeological sites in the world, famous for the Great Anglo Saxon Ship Burial. The team undertake a month-long dig in Garden Field to try to find the origins of this incredible site.

If they can understand what’s happening in this field, they might be able to understand the entire site including the Royal Burial Ground. They join forces with Prof. Martin Carver and a team of archaeologists who dug the Royal Burial Ground in the 1980s.

The Sutton Hoo Ship: Rebuilding a Legend (Part 1) with Tony Robinson (2024)

Alongside our dig at Sutton Hoo, we're delighted to present a brand new Time Team Special presented by Sir Tony Robinson!

In 1939, on the eve of war, a huge ship burial was discovered at Sutton Hoo, Suffolk, laden with golden treasures, befitting Anglo-Saxon royalty. Now, a team of shipwrights and volunteers at The Longshed in Woodbridge are building a scale reconstruction, as acccurately as possible, using traditional methods.

Over the last few years, Time Team has been following the incredible building project, gradually watching the ship take shape. Watch the story so far HERE - also linked below.

World War I Training Camp - Nottinghamshire

'From Forest to Front Line' - is a special episode from Time Team's Expedition Crew, in collaboration with Forestry England. Between 1915 and 1920, hundreds of thousands of troops were based at Clipstone Camp, Nottinghamshire. Lawrence has assembled a team, including people from Forestry England, Operation Nightingale, Nottinghamshire Council and, of course, Time Team, to investigate a training area that's been protected by trees for nearly 100 years. This episode was produced in partnership with Foresrty England.

WWII Operation Cobra - Normandy, France

Sam Wilson, Time Team's conflict archaeologist, visits the site of an archaeological project exploring battlefields of Operation Cobra in Normandy led by Cameron Ross, the director of the Battlefield Archaeology Group.

He meets the team of international archaeologists and volunteers for their 3rd season of exploring the archaeology of Operation Cobra. Operation Cobra was a major allied operation that finally broke through the German defence in Normandy in 1944.

The project is the first time a World War Two battlefield in Normandy has been studied in its entirety. It involved intensive geophysics, to locate German positions in the first phase of the breakthrough as well as strategic metal detecting.
